Hello, and welcome to Canvas Piano Studio!

I'm so glad that you are interested in learning more about piano lessons.  Whether you are just gathering information or are already a student , feel free to look around and see how things work around here!

I began playing piano when I was 9 years old, and I've never stopped learning!  I became an accompanist for high school and college choirs and also learned to improvise and play with a band as a worship leader at my church.  Playing piano has opened up doors to perform around the United States and the world on various choir tours.  It's a skill I still practice and enjoy each day!

I have been teaching piano for 16 years at my home and at New Life Academy in Woodbury.   One of the things I love about teaching piano is that it is always interesting!  Here is a snapshot of the different students I have taught:

                  * 4 years old to retired adults

                  * Students with Autism, Aspberger's, ADHD, and OCD

                  * Students who are new to music and others who play multiple instruments

                  * Students whose first love is music and students who have multiple other interests

                  * Students who pick up everything quickly and students who struggle to master new skills

                  * Students who love to perform and students who are petrified to be on stage

                  * Students who love classical music and students who want to be in a rock band

My vision is to see each student I work with to develop a lifelong love for music:  to enjoy various music styles, to discover what they love about music and to grow in their skills as a musician, and to benefit from the joy, accomplishment, and outlet that learning music provides.

My mission is to provide a personalized lesson that encourages students to explore and work toward their goals in music.  That may include composing, performing, becoming a member of a band, or simply playing at home for their own enjoyment.

I love getting to know each student and being challenged to creatively help them develop as musicians.  I love it when I see the joy and confidence  they get when they accomplish their goals!

I hope you see from my story and from my students:  Learning the piano is something everyone can enjoy!

Welcome to piano lessons!
